Coil-build a ceramic candlestick holder in a single evening. This is a beginner-friendly handbuilding pottery workshop in Denver: no wheel, no experience needed, just clay, your hands, and a handmade candle holder to take home.

Taught by Tess Chatfield, a Denver ceramic artist who has been teaching ceramic handbuilding classes in Denver and the Bay Area for three years. You will wedge clay, roll coils, cut a slab base, then build and smooth the holder, shape the cup at the top where the candle sits, and add texture to finish.

Tuesday, September 22, 6:00 to 8:30 PM. Ten seats. $50.

  • Two and a half hours, one night, no prior pottery experience needed
  • You build your own coil-built candlestick holder and take it home
  • All clay, tools, slip, glaze, and firing are included
  • Core handbuilding skills covered: wedging, coil building, slab work, scoring and slipping, surface texture
  • Pieces are bisque fired, glazed, and ready for pickup about two weeks later
