Frequently Asked Questions

How do I become a member?

Start by booking a free 15–20 minute studio tour and orientation using the "Book a Studio Tour" button above. We'll walk through the studio together so you can see the space, learn how things work, and ask any questions. Do I need pottery experience to join?

Yes. We ask that you take at least one beginner class (or have equivalent experience) before joining as a member, so you can work safely and independently in the shared studio. Equivalent experience could include prior pottery classes at another studio, formal ceramics training, or solid hands-on experience with wheel throwing and handbuilding. If you're not sure whether your background qualifies, email us at info@clayastudios.com and we'll figure it out together.

What's the difference between Founding and Standard pricing?

Founding rate ($140/mo) is available to the first 50 members and locked for 12 months. After 12 months, Founding members transition to the $175/mo Standard Rate. What's included with membership?

24/7 studio access, your own shelf, professional equipment (24 wheels, slab roller, extruder, worktables, community tools), At least 14 dipping glazes for member use and a ROYGBIV palette of underglazes, bisque firing included; glaze firing free up to 250 cubic inches per month then $0.05 per cubic inch (allowance resets monthly, no rollover), and monthly community gatherings.

Can I cancel anytime?

All memberships have a 2-month minimum commitment. After month 2, cancel anytime at clayastudios.com/pages/cancel-membership — no notice period required.
