Claya is a pottery studio in Denver's RiNo district with 24/7 access for members. Come in whenever you want, work on your own projects, and enjoy a creative space that's always open. Whether you're throwing at midnight or glazing on a Sunday morning — the studio is yours.

This page outlines how Studio Membership works, what’s included, and what’s expected. If questions come up at any point, we’re always happy to help.

What's required?

We require at least one beginner class (or equivalent experience) before membership, so you're comfortable working independently. After that, the studio is yours — 24/7.

I bought a membership online — what happens next?

After purchasing a Studio Membership, we’ll reach out by email or phone to schedule a brief in-person orientation. Orientation typically takes 15–20 minutes and includes a tour of the studio, shelf assignment, and setup for 24/7 access.

Once orientation is complete, you may work in the studio anytime.

What does Studio Membership include?

• Free bisque firing — glaze firing free up to 250 cubic inches per month, then $0.05/cubic inch (allowance resets monthly, no rollover)

What materials should I bring?

Members supply their own clay. Clay bodies are available for purchase through Claya. Tools, bats, and studio equipment are provided.

Outside clay bodies or glazes must be approved in advance to protect kiln integrity and maintain consistent firing results.

Clay & firing

Claya fires primarily in electric kilns to Cone 5. We maintain a selection of Cone 5 clay bodies and glazes compatible with our firing schedule.

Firing details:
Bisque firing is free.
Glaze firing is free up to 250 cubic inches per month, then $0.05 per cubic inch (allowance resets monthly, no rollover).
Firings occur weekly to Cone 5.
Cone 10 firings may be available by request, subject to scheduling, kiln availability, and approval.

Storage

Each member receives one designated shelf (48" wide × 18" deep × ~12" tall).

• Top shelf (no height limit): $10/month
• Additional standard shelf: $20/month
• 7-tier rolling cart: $60/month

Membership rates

Founding Rate — $140/month. Available to the first 50 members, locked for 12 months of continuous membership. After your 24th month, you'll transition to the Standard Rate.

Standard Rate — $175/month (monthly). Applies to members who join after the first 50 founding spots fill, and to Founding members after their 12-month locked period.

Standard — 12 Months Prepaid — $1,860. One-time payment for 12 months of access (11% off, $155/month equivalent).

Prepaid plans are non-refundable for unused months. Access ends at the prepaid term's end; renew at the then-current rate.

If you cancel, the Founding Rate is forfeited; rejoining (if a spot is available) is at the then-current Standard Rate.

Billing & cancellation

Monthly memberships are billed automatically on the same calendar day each month and continue until you cancel. Prepaid 12-month memberships are a one-time charge and do not auto-renew.

2-month minimum: all memberships require a 2-month minimum commitment. You can cancel during your first two months but billing continues through the end of month 2.

To cancel: visit clayastudios.com/pages/cancel-membership, enter your email, and click cancel. No notice period or phone call required. Studio access continues through the end of your current billing period.

After cancelling: please clear your designated shelf within 3 days of access ending. Anything left will be donated or discarded.

Founding Rate: cancelling forfeits the $140 rate. If you rejoin later (and a spot is available), it will be at the then-current Standard Rate of $175/month.

Memberships are cancelled, not refunded. We don't prorate or refund partial months — see our Refund Policy for details.

One of the best parts of Claya is the people. Our members are generous, creative, and genuinely fun to be around. You'll find yourself swapping tips, sharing ideas, and making friends who are just as excited about clay as you are.

It's a collaborative space — people help each other out, celebrate each other's work, and make the studio feel like home. Clean up when you're done, take care of the tools, and enjoy being part of something good.
