Pottery Classes near Cherry Creek Denver

Cherry Creek is known for beautiful things — thoughtfully curated boutiques, gallery openings on First Friday, and the kind of dining that people drive across the city to experience. But there is a difference between admiring beautiful objects and making them yourself. If you have ever been drawn to handmade ceramics at a Cherry Creek gallery and wondered what it would be like to create your own, Claya offers exactly that opportunity. Our 6,000-square-foot pottery studio in the RiNo Arts District is about fifteen minutes north and offers everything from beginner wheel throwing courses to 24/7 studio memberships.

Why Cherry Creek Residents Love Claya

People in Cherry Creek have high standards and a genuine appreciation for craftsmanship. That sensibility translates beautifully to the pottery wheel. Learning to throw is not about making something perfect on the first try — it is about developing a skill, understanding materials, and building something with your hands that has real presence and character. Our students from Cherry Creek often tell us that pottery has become their favorite way to decompress, a counterbalance to the polished pace of daily life. The studio itself reflects that balance: professional equipment, clean and well-lit workspaces, and an atmosphere that is focused but never uptight.

Classes and Membership

Our Intro to Wheel Throwing course is a six-week journey from raw clay to glazed, kiln-fired pieces. With a maximum of twelve students per class, you receive attentive instruction at every stage — centering, pulling walls, shaping, trimming, and finishing. Wheel Throwing II is the natural next step for those who want to refine their craft and tackle more ambitious forms. For self-directed practice, Open Studio provides access to wheels, tools, and firing without a class structure. Our 24/7 membership at the founding rate of $140 per month gives you unlimited studio access any time of day — many of our Cherry Creek members love early morning sessions before the world wakes up. For a distinctive group experience, private events welcome eight to twenty-four guests for hands-on pottery in a setting that is far more memorable than a typical outing.

Getting Here from Cherry Creek

From Cherry Creek, head north on Colorado Boulevard or University Boulevard toward RiNo — the drive takes roughly fifteen minutes. You can also take Speer Boulevard north to Blake Street and head east into the arts district. Our studio is at 3440 Walnut Street, Denver CO 80205. Street parking is available near the studio.

Before and After Class

RiNo holds its own against any neighborhood in Denver when it comes to food and culture, so plan to spend some extra time here. Before class, stop by Crema Coffee House for a pour-over, or sit down at Mercantile Dining and Provision for something more substantial. After your session, a cold one at Great Divide Brewing's barrel bar hits just right, especially on the patio in warmer months. The neighborhood is packed with galleries and artist studios that are worth exploring — it is a fitting companion to an evening spent creating something of your own.
