Pottery Classes in Capitol Hill Denver

Capitol Hill has never been a neighborhood that follows trends — it sets them. From the independent bookshops along Colfax to the dive bars that somehow serve the best food in the city, the Hill draws people who value authenticity and creative expression. If you live in Cap Hill and have been looking for a hands-on art form that goes deeper than a single painting night, Claya is worth the short drive north. We are a 6,000-square-foot ceramics studio in RiNo where you can learn to throw on the wheel, work clay on your own schedule, or gather a group for a private pottery event.

Why Capitol Hill Residents Love Claya

Cap Hill is full of people who already appreciate art — you walk past murals, gallery windows, and live music venues every day. Pottery takes that appreciation and puts it in your hands, literally. There is something deeply satisfying about shaping a bowl or mug from a raw lump of clay, and it is a practice that rewards the kind of creative curiosity Capitol Hill is known for. Our studio is welcoming to every skill level, from the person who has never touched a pottery wheel to the experienced maker who just needs studio space and kiln access. The vibe is relaxed, the instructors are generous with their knowledge, and nobody is going to judge your first wobbly cylinder.

Classes and Membership

The Intro to Wheel Throwing course is six weeks long and capped at twelve students per class, so you get plenty of one-on-one time with your instructor. It covers centering, pulling, trimming, and glazing — everything you need to walk away with finished pieces you are genuinely proud of. If you want to keep building after the intro, Wheel Throwing II introduces new forms and refines your technique. Open Studio hours are available for anyone who wants wheel time without a structured class, and our 24/7 membership gives you round-the-clock studio access at a founding rate of $140 per month. For a group outing that is more memorable than another bar night, our private events accommodate eight to twenty-four people and include everything you need for a great time.

Getting Here from Capitol Hill

Capitol Hill to RiNo is one of the quickest commutes in Denver. Head north on Broadway and take a right on Walnut Street, or follow Colfax east to York and turn north — either way, you are looking at roughly twelve minutes. Our address is 3440 Walnut Street, Denver CO 80205. Street parking is available near the studio.

Before and After Class

RiNo has its own thriving food and drink scene that feels right at home for anyone coming from the Hill. Grab dinner at Cart-Driver for wood-fired pizza, or swing by Bierstadt Lagerhaus if you are in the mood for a perfectly brewed lager. The Source Market Hall has everything from acai bowls to craft cocktails under one roof. After your session, take a walk through the alley murals — RiNo's street art rivals anything on Capitol Hill, and it changes constantly. Many of our Cap Hill students make their pottery night a full RiNo evening.
