Pottery Classes in Five Points Denver | Claya

Pottery Classes near Five Points, Denver

Five Points carries more history per block than almost anywhere else in Denver. The jazz legacy of Welton Street, the deep roots of the Black community that shaped this neighborhood, and the ongoing wave of new energy from restaurants and small businesses all mix together into something that feels both grounded and forward-looking. Claya is right next door in RiNo, just a few minutes north on Walnut Street -- close enough that adding a pottery class to your week feels effortless.

Why Five Points Residents Love Claya

Five Points has always been a neighborhood where culture and creativity matter. Claya fits that tradition -- it is a place to slow down, work with your hands, and make something real. The drive is about five minutes straight north on Walnut, or you can bike up easily on the low-traffic streets that connect the two neighborhoods. No highways, no hassle.

Classes and Membership

If you have never touched a pottery wheel, our Intro to Wheel Throwing course walks you through six weeks of hands-on learning -- centering clay, shaping forms, trimming, and glazing your own pieces. For those ready to go further, Wheel Throwing II builds on that foundation with more complex shapes and surface work. Our Open Studio hours let you practice on your own time, and a 24/7 membership at $140 per month means the studio is yours whenever inspiration strikes. Classes cap at 12 students, and we host private group events for 8 to 24 people.

Getting Here from Five Points

From Five Points, head north on Walnut Street. You will cross over the 30s blocks and land right in RiNo -- the studio is at 3440 Walnut between 34th and 35th. The whole trip takes about five minutes by car, and biking is just as quick and pleasant along the neighborhood streets. Street parking is available near the studio.

Before and After Class

Before heading to the studio, grab a morning bagel at Rosenberg's on Welton -- their hand-rolled bagels and house-cured lox are some of the best in Denver. After class, Stem Ciders on Larimer serves inventive hard ciders in a bright, modern taproom that makes a great decompression spot. And if you have not visited The Rossonian, the historic jazz hotel on Welton, it is worth a stop just to soak in the history of a building that once hosted Billie Holiday and Duke Ellington.
