Pottery Classes near LoDo, Denver
Lower Downtown -- LoDo -- is where Denver's history and nightlife collide. Union Station anchors the neighborhood with its grand hall and train platforms, Coors Field fills the streets with baseball energy in summer, and the converted warehouses along Wazee and Blake house some of the city's best restaurants and bars. But between the happy hours and weekend crowds, a lot of LoDo residents are looking for something more hands-on and lasting. Claya is seven minutes north in RiNo, and it offers exactly that.
Why LoDo Residents Love Claya
LoDo is exciting but fast-paced -- pottery is the counterbalance. An hour at the wheel requires focus and presence in a way that resets everything else. The commute is barely a commute: head north on Blake Street or hop on the Cherry Creek Trail bike path, and you are at the studio in about seven minutes. You stay in the central city corridor the entire time.
Classes and Membership
Our six-week Intro to Wheel Throwing course is built for people with busy lives -- it gives you structured learning time each week and results in real pottery you made with your own hands. Wheel Throwing II is for those who want to keep building skill and range. If you find yourself craving more studio time, our 24/7 membership at a founding rate of $140 per month lets you come in whenever your schedule allows, even late at night after downtown winds down. Class sizes stay at 12 or fewer, and we host private group events for 8 to 24.
Getting Here from LoDo
Take Blake Street north -- it transitions from LoDo's restaurant row into RiNo's art district seamlessly. You can also follow the Cherry Creek Trail on a bike, which runs right through the area. The studio is at 3440 Walnut Street between 34th and 35th. Street parking is available near the studio.
Before and After Class
Union Station's Great Hall is always worth a stop -- whether for a cocktail at the Terminal Bar or a quick bite at one of the ground-floor restaurants, it is a beautiful space to pass time before heading to the studio. Wynkoop Brewing Company, Denver's original brewpub on 18th and Wynkoop, has been serving solid beers and bar food since 1988 and makes a reliable post-class destination. And if you want fresh air, the Cherry Creek Trail starts right downtown and is a scenic walk or ride that takes you practically to our door.
