These Terms of Use govern your use of the Claya iOS app and the firing-system portal at fire.clayastudios.com/m ("the app"). By using the app you agree to these terms.

1. Who can use the app

The app is for active members of Claya pottery studio in Denver, Colorado. An active Shopify subscription to Claya membership is required to drop off pieces for firing. Without an active membership, you can still log in to view your firing history but cannot submit new pieces.

2. What the app does

  • Lets you measure and drop off pottery pieces for kiln firing from your phone.
  • Tracks each piece's status through the kiln (queued, in kiln, ready for pickup, picked up).
  • Processes glaze-firing payments through Shopify checkout. Bisque firings are included with membership at no extra charge.
  • Lets you keep private glaze notes per piece for your own learning.

3. Pricing

  • Bisque firing — included with your Claya membership. No additional charge.
  • Glaze firing — Members receive 250 cubic inches of glaze firing per month at no charge (allowance resets the 1st of each month, no rollover). Beyond that, $0.05 per cubic inch (volume of your piece's bounding box). Paid via Shopify checkout at drop-off. Subject to change with notice.
  • The app itself is free to download and use.

4. Drop-off and pickup

  • After submitting a piece in the app, place the physical piece on the studio's firing shelf with your printed receipt (or a sticky note with the order ID) inside the piece or tucked underneath.
  • We hold finished pieces for pickup for at least 30 days. After repeated reminders, pieces left longer may be recycled or donated at the studio's discretion.
  • We're not responsible for damage during firing — kiln work involves unavoidable risk (cracking, warping, glaze defects). Membership pricing reflects this shared-studio risk model.

5. Refunds

  • If a piece is broken in our kiln due to staff error, contact us and we'll issue a firing credit on a case-by-case basis.
  • Glaze-firing payments are non-refundable once a piece has entered the kiln.
  • Membership refunds are governed separately by the Claya Membership terms at clayastudios.com.

6. Your account

  • Keep your PIN private. You're responsible for activity on your account.
  • If you suspect a compromise, reset your PIN from the app — this invalidates all active sessions.
  • We may suspend or close accounts that violate these terms or use the app fraudulently.

7. Acceptable use

Don't try to access other members' data, reverse-engineer the app, or use it for anything other than tracking your own pottery firing. Don't submit pieces that aren't actually being dropped off.

8. Service availability

We provide the app as-is. We aim for high uptime but don't guarantee zero downtime. Maintenance windows are usually outside business hours.

9. Liability

Our maximum liability for any claim related to the app is limited to the amount you paid us for firing services in the 30 days before the claim. We're not liable for indirect or consequential damages.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. Material changes will be announced to active members by email. Continuing to use the app after changes means you accept the updated terms.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Colorado, USA.
